So a New Year is upon us – perhaps you’re in a period
of self-reflection/ hibernation, or perhaps it’s given
you some new found energy, or an excuse to wipe a slate
clean. We love a new year for that; like starting the first
page of a brand new notebook…
Being cultural creatures we’re leaning into the opportunity
to look at the year ahead with our forensic cultural specs on,

Zineb Sedira: Dreams Have No Titles

Whitechapel Gallery will be transformed into a series of film sets for
the UK debut of Zineb Sedira’s critically acclaimed exhibition Dreams
Have No Titles.
Originally conceived for the French Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in
2022, it is an immersive installation comprising film, sculpture,
photography and performance, that interweaves the artist’s biography
with activist films produced across France, Algeria and Italy in the 1960s
and 1970s. We’ll be hot-footing it to E1 to catch it while it’s in town.

We’re huge fans of Perilla in Newington Green, so when we heard the
same team would be opening a new venture on Exmouth Market, our
ears pricked up. Morchella is billed as ‘a restaurant and wine bar serving
a modern interpretation of classical dishes from across the Mediterranean,
prepared with the highest quality produce.’

Concrete Lates x Dialled In

South Asian arts collective Dialled In, whose purpose is to platform
the wealth of South Asian artistry, will be hosting a takeover at
Southbank Centre on 8th & 9th March, beginning with this club night
featuring DJ and illustrator Anu (NTS Radio).
Three Sheets

Three Sheets in Dalston regularly makes it on to ‘London’s best bars’ lists,
so those of you who don’t live East will be glad to hear that Max & Noel
Venning have announced that a new Soho outpost will be opening on Manette
Street in March 2024. It will be open all day, serving coffee in the mornings and
food from ex-Lyle’s chef William Blank, but the cocktails will surely be the
jewel in the crown.
Spirited Away

We were wowed by ‘My Neighbour Totoro’ at the Barbican last year, so we’re excited to see this latest live stage adaptation of the beloved Studio Ghibli classic ‘Spirited Away’ at The London Coliseum in April 2024.
Set in an enchanting world of spirits and magic, the production features captivating visuals, puppetry, and performances, celebrating the spirit of Hayao Miyazaki’s iconic masterpiece in a new and immersive dimension.
The Planet Good Earth Garden

Our friends over at earth-friendly food education platform Planet Good Earth
have just announced that they will be hosting the first ever skate park at the
Chelsea Flower Show in May 2024, supported by Project Giving Back and in
collaboration with designers and architects Urban Organic and Betong Park.
The Planet Good Earth Garden will be an innovative skate park that embodies the
joys of playing, cultivating and growing together, featuring 100% edible planting and
championing creative environmental education among urban youth communities to
promote a sustainable future for everyone. Truly groundbreaking – we can’t wait to check it out.
The World of Tim Burton

We’re huge fans of Tim Burton, so we’re putting the dates for this major exhibition
at the Design Museum firmly in the diary. The show will delve into the fantastical
world of the renowned filmmaker, artist and storyteller, who is celebrated for his
distinctive and eccentric style in creating visually captivating and darkly whimsical worlds.
While most well-known for his cinematic work, this show will display the full extent
of his production as an illustrator, painter, photographer and author, as well as
exploring key collaborations with designers.

You may have been hiding under a rock if you have escaped the cultural chatter about
Irish actor Barry Keoghan, who created controversy and admiration for his recent role
as Oliver Quick in Emerald Fennel’s ‘Saltburn’ and has become something of a media darling.
So we were excited to learn that he has been cast in the latest film from British filmmaker
Andrea Arnold, known for her distinct and raw filmmaking style. Not much is known about
the film other than its title ‘Bird’ and the fact it’s rumoured for release in 2024.
