5 THINGS WITH BECCY MCCRAY

We recently had the pleasure of catching up with Beccy McCray who showed us a fascinating and eclectic collection of 5 things of importance to her.

Beccy is a climate-in-nature storyteller, who creates art that is socially engaged. Her work spans a range of creative and ecological pursuits; including creative consulting currently working with organisations including HTC Vive Arts, Greenpeace, Ecover and Dazed Media.

WILD CARDS WITH CANOPY & STARS

“I worked with Canopy & Stars to create this pack of cards with Glimpse,
available to buy on their website. The aim was to focus on how
we encourage people to connect with nature wherever they are.

These cards contained wisdom & folklore that encouraged
a reimagining of what we think of as nature…
ultimately the message is that “we are nature”.

STONE CLUB

It’s a not-so-secret club for archaeology nerds and it’s six pounds
a year to join, you get invited to talks, quiz nights, movie nights,
walks etc. Well worth the £6 lifetime fee!

A YEAR IN A FIELD

An 86 minute feature film about a year in the life of a monolith.

I am a believer in “The Right to Roam”. I think this is the most
important movement currently related to nature. Only 8% of the
land in the UK isn’t private, it’s all about opening access so
everyone can explore and enjoy the benefits of nature.

ALLOTMENTS

To me, allotments are a statement against mass consumption.
My favourite thing to grow: potatoes!

CLIMATE NAN

Another one of my recent projects and one I’m very fond of.
Climate Nan’s Caravan is a touring conversation starter.
Visiting many areas across the UK that will be (or are already)
experiencing the impacts of climate change,
Climate Nan offers
the community an outlet for their hopes, fears and good ideas
